Avocado Tartare Sandwich

Avocado Tartar Sandwich

Most of the times when you want a snack on the go for lunch and you don’t want anything fast food, you probably end up having a sandwich. The choice is usually (well at least in Germany): sausage, ham, eggs, cheese or tuna. I always take the one with cheese.

But I need variety, so I have started making my own sandwiches when I am on the road. And they are anything else but boring.

Avocado Tartare

I have made an avocado tartare. Avocado tartare sounds like an invented word but it also sounds kinda cool. It is like a little avocado salad that you can combine with different things. In this case bread – making a sandwich.

Avocado tartare would also be nice on little crackers as a canapé or used as a salsa with meat or fish dishes. The ideas are endless.

For me this avocado tartare sandwich is a great alternative to the classic choice of sandwiches and I really love avocado! I am starting to become a creative sandwich maker. No, better: I am becoming a sandwich gourmet!

Avocado Tartar Sandwich

What you need for 1 big sandwich:

  • 2 slices of toasted bread (type of bread based on availability or preference)
  • 1 avocado (not too ripe)
  • 1/2 small red onion
  • A handful of broccoli sprouts
  • A squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Pepper and salt

  • Steps:

  • Chop avocado and red onion and mix with broccoli sprouts
  • Add lemon juice
  • Drizzle with olive oil
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper
  • Arrange avocado tartare on the toasted bread slices

    1. this is lemonade

Ooooh this just looks delicious! I love avocado and the sprouts too always add that lovely bit of crunch. Yum! Only challenge with this delightful idea is not giving into the temptation to eat the avocado for long enough to put it all together – I’m reading your post just after I got a spoon, split an avocado and scooped the yumminess out for a quick snack. Hehe :)
